Concrete Loading Dock Repaired Instead Of Replaced

In this industrial project, the owner had considered replacing the entire loading dock.  This would have involved breaking up the ramp, and re-pouring the entire ramp with new concrete. The time needed to completely replace the ramp would have been about two weeks, which was prohibitive to the owner.

SKV Construction recommended that the damaged areas be cleaned, the bad pieces be removed, and the drain fixed. This approach would save considerable expense, and would only put the ramp out of use for 48 hours.

The product used to repair the cracks was a non-shrinking heavy duty concrete repair material with steel reinforcement.

The first two images below show the loading dock ramp and drain before restoration. The below 2 photos show the ramp and drain after restoration.

After 5 Months of Use (December 2014)

Hi Stan,
Wanted to let you know that our dock is holding up very well. Sealing the sides has really helped. I have noticed the dock is almost always dry. Before the repair there was usually some dampness most days. I expect this was really damaging the concrete, especially around the drain area.

SKV’s repair should give us many more years of life for the dock. It was much less expensive than replacing the entire concrete floor. Feel free to use the attached photos for any future repair quotes.

Best regards,
