Basement Concrete Tilted Wall Repaired

The project below illustrates how SKV Construction's years of experience was applied to a concrete tilted wall repair.

The homeowner's basement wall was beginning to tilt inward towards the basement. The only question as to whether the wall would collapse into the basement was how much time it would take before it happened.

SKV Construction recommended that the homeowner reinforce the wall from the outside with rods anchored in steel beams.  The steel beams were then encased in concrete.

Since the tilted wall was underneath the deck, the decking had to be removed to access the exterior of the tilted wall. Also, the ground cover and mulched area had to be moved to excavate spots for steel stabilizing I-Beams. View of Home With Deck Extending From Tilted Basement Wall

The image below shows how the steel reinforcing rods were inserted through the tilted concrete wall (see black arrows).

The next 2 images below show the deck area, and the landscape area that had to be excavated to locate the steel reinforcing rods. Further, note the I-beams at each point where the rods extend through the tilted wall (see red I-beam near black arrow).  Each I-beam is then encased in concrete as shown by the 2nd image (black arrow next to shovel).

The final 2 images below show how the threaded rods were secured inside the basement. The top of the wall is now stabilized.  The tilted wall repair has been completed, and further tilting inward is prevented.
